Motorcycle Ride to West Virginia 2008
Well I was supposed to take a weekend ride with my Uncle Barry and Aunt Linda Luxenburg this summer. Unfortunately my uncle passed on from a heart attack earlier this year. Route 800 was one of his favorite roads I decided that would be the one I took to WV (even through it did add some extra miles).
Thursday the 21st of August I had the tires on my Buell Ulysess and a new touring wind shield. The rear tire was only a few thousand miles over due. The bike was taking wind and corners better then I ever remembered.
Friday was a beautiful day to travel. It was little cool in the morning and hot in the afternoon, all and all a great day to travel. About 45 minutes after I passed the Dover Dam (as seen in pictures) Rt. 800 started getting wavy and I have a great time riding the curves. Later a pulled up behind a gold colored Gold Wing, almost like the one my uncle had just a bit smaller. It was very touching to imagine my uncle leading the way through the best part of Rt. 800.
Later I found the roads through the mountains I choose to have more curves then I expected. By the time I got close to me destination I was too tired to get on the twisties. So much so I found that bikes with half my Uly's ability pulling away from me in the curves. I found that was the best part of riding alone is being able to pick your own speed, and making the road & it's bends your own.
